Upstate to Bard

Back to Nature

I went upstate with a few friends. We went to experience things we couldn't experience in the city, such as:
  • Going to an art museum;

  • Cooking a meal with vegetables bought at a farmer's market;

  • Watching lots of YouTube videos ("going down a Y Hole");

  • Going to brunch;

  • Driving around and looking at things from behind a car window; and

  • Thrift store shopping.

I went to Bard once— back in the Winter of 2000-2001. Did you see a huge (like 50 foot long) metal sculpture shaped like a V that you can sit on and rotate with your bodily shifts; I think it sits on something like a lazy susan. I also remember there being a kinda nice stream/small waterfall thing someplace. Also, there's a line in the song "Subterranean Homesick Blues" that comes from Bard— the line about "the vandals took the handles" was written in reference to the missing handle of the water pump at Bard, or so I've been told.

Yeah, it's a cool sculpture. I forget who made it. I took pictures last time I was there, so I didn't bother this time. I know I saw the stream but it was a long time ago - not this trip. Don't remember a waterfall, but I probably just don't remember.

I think I'm going back to Goffs (the Mojave desert town I grew up in with the population of 23) for the month of Dec. I need to recharge and all I'll be able to do is walk around and work on comics/art.

I don't think there's internet - not at my dad's place, at least. Maybe dial up? It'll be a hardcore cold turkey month. Then again, my mom has internet, even if it's slow (dial-up), so I'll probably get internet access once a week. (My mom lives in Needles, a town with about 5,000 people, 30 miles away from Goffs.)

I like the shot of you guys with the mugs. You look so at ease there. Might want to include that one in your autobiography one day. ;)

Oh, and isn't there just something wonderful about telephone lines against a blue sky? I love that picture.

I approve of jeans in various shades of blue (though the one she's wearing is sort of cartoonish), black, and grey. I'm not saying that PANTS should only be blue, black, grey, but.
